An unlock that so many women don’t know about is wearing glasses as an accessory. Whether you’re blind as batty Austen character like yours truly or you have the perfect vision I’m manifesting for my son, glasses are for you. And learning how to style fashion glasses for women is so fabulous and so worth the effort!
If you’ve worked with me in tech you know I live in glasses while on zoom calls. When I’m on a video call I’m always wearing glasses, like truly. Whether it’s 6am and I’m logging in early to meet with people in India and I’m wearing prescription frames to hide my tired or I have on a pair of blue light blocking glasses that are intended to give me a certain vibe mid-day (of which there are many options) or to cover up dark under eye bags, there are glasses (of which I have many) for every moment.
My favorite glasses brands
There are so many types of fashion glasses for women. Like so many. And this is really where you can have fun playing with trendy versus classic pieces. The one exception for me are tiny 90’s eye glasses. I will not burst your bubble if they bring you joy–heck you should wear them if they bring you joy–but I just can’t do them. (Sunglasses are a slightly different story so if you want the download on them please comment below and let me know!)
I’m all about an oversized and/or chunky frame for fashion glasses. What’s amazing is you have so many options these days too. From $10 frames from Amazon (I don’t recommend, these will fall apart and they just look cheap, unless they’re you’re only option or you don’t mind or you break glasses every day) to $500 designer frames the world is your oyster. You might think because I love a Chanel or a Gucci bag I’m donning their women’s glasses, but that’s not always the case! My favorite brands for eye glasses are Jacques Marie Mage, Thenri, and Dita. I love the quality and uniqueness of the frames and I love how they look on the face! They’re truly fashion pieces and while their women’s lines are incredible I will also look at their glasses for men as I find they tend to run even more oversized. Just like a good ol’ blazer.
Types of glasses
As I said, you have your choice between classic or trendy glasses. Your frames can also carry as little or as much weight (literally and figuratively) as you’d like them to. For example, if you select a simple frame, something like a thin wired square frame it’s adding a little bit of what I’d call texture to your outfit, but if you throw on a thick framed aviator with gold pops then your glasses are standing up on their own in the conversation. It’s all about the styling message you’re trying to convey.
For my own style 70s and 80s fashion glasses tend to be what I gravitate towards the most. I’ve found a few from my favorite women’s glasses brands above, but I also will rely on a place like Warby Parker to try out a new style if I’m not wanting to invest in it just yet.

I’m so obsessed with glasses that I am still going to my optometrist from my childhood because they have in my opinion, the best selection of glasses in the Seattle area; and they’re about 90 min away from where I live. I’m committed to shopping for frames that will last and that are unique. I’ve truly never ran into anyone wearing frames that I am. And she loves being unique.
And she loves being unique.
Whether you want to stand out and have people drawn to your face via the glasses you’re wearing, or you prefer a minimal look, there is no wrong time to wear glasses, even if they’re just for fashion. Check out some of my favorites below, and let me know if you’d like me to pick out a pair just for you!
Pro tip: you can turn any pair of sunglasses into eyeglasses, and eyeglasses into sunglass. Just swap out the lenses!
So informative! I have been looking for a new pair of glasses and this is just the right post to read!
