The time is neigh. It’s Black Friday week shopping and I know we’re all ready to buy. The bidders are stirring, ready on the mouse, there are sales to be had, maybe you’ll even buy a house.
Cute, right?
Now, let’s get serious.
It’s the time of year when 20% off this and 40% off that is a common note in your email inbox. It’s so easy to get sucked into spending and pretending like your money isn’t money, like it’s sugar you’re duster here and there, on this cookie and that one, but when you focus more on the sales going on, you end up shopping for the sake of shopping. Even if money is no object there’s something to be said about being a responsible consumer. There’s almost more joy to be had but purchasing things that actually fill a need, actually bring you joy.
How to shop smart
It’s all about the list. Take a note from Santa’s book and creating a list of things that you need or you know fill some gap in your wardrobe. Since it’s my first year shopping for a little one I’m making sure this is a step I’m taking especially when it comes to buying him clothes and toys. There’s only so much space for onesies and kiddo contraptions. And when it comes to shopping for myself I’m really focusing on ensuring that whatever I bring into my wardrobe does the following things:
- Has a place. It should align to one of my three words: cool, 70s, and oversized. If it doesn’t there should be a legit reason why I would add it to my closet.
- Is a swap. If something is coming in, something should probably be going out. Particularly if you’re buying something you already have.
- Aligns with your vibe. Remember, just because you have a holiday event you’re dressing for, it doesn’t mean that you need to stray from the type of outfit you’d normally wear. More on that here.:)
The lists
Now that you know the ground rules. Let’s talk lists. I’ve created a few shopping lists for all the special people in your life, and of course, for yourself. I always think it’s important to treat yourself with a little something each holiday season if you can. You deserve to be celebrated just as much as everyone else in your life. Remember, if you ever want want with finding items just shoot me a message at mj@withmads.com and I can help you with all your personal styling and shopping needs! I got you girl.
The 2024 Holiday Shopping Guide isn’t organized for men or women because I think there’s more fun in shopping for the character of the person rather than a specific label. But you can totally shop between lists as well! As a subscriber to the With Mads Newsletter you get free access to the shopping guide! Simply sign up for the newsletter or message me through the Inquire page here! I’m so excited for you to use the guide and find great items!
